John Barry Kernick, 66, of Upper Saucon Township, died of natural causes while hunting October 25, 2012. Hunting was one of his true passions in life. He was the husband of Dolly C. (Szep) Kernick. The couple celebrated 43 years of marriage Oct. 25. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late John and Veronica (Lizun) Kernick.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Limeport and was a Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He was employed by Upper Saucon Township, in the water and sewage department, for nine years before retiring in 2011. Previously he worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp., in the Ingot Mould Foundry, for 31 years until the plant closing in 1995.

He was a member of the Lower Milford Township Buck Club, the Zionsville Community Fish & Game Association and was an avid golfer in the Coke Plant Golf League at Wedgewood Golf Course. He loved spending time with his family, most especially his time with his precious grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; son, Christopher J. and his wife Danielle of Andreas; brothers, James, Joseph, Michael, Timothy and Thomas; sister, Patricia Smith; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Caitlin Kernick; numerous members of his extended family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., St. Joseph Catholic Church, Limeport. Call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
