Each year Parkland High School spends the week leading up to Homecoming getting students excited for the dance.
Each day, from Oct. 9-12, had its own theme to it leading up to the Jungle Love dance on Saturday.
Tuesday was Tie Dye Day; Wednesday was Class Color Day; Thursday was Team and Hat Day; and Friday was Safari Day.
The activities for the week didn't just end with attire worn during the school day.
On Wednesday, girls competed in the Homecoming Garter Bowl games, playing football.
This year, the boys were the cheerleaders during the games, which began with the freshmen girls facing the juniors.
The second game of the night was sophomore girls versus senior girls.
The freshmen team pulled off an impressive victory over the juniors and ended up playing the seniors in the final round.
At the end of the night, the freshmen weren't able to pull off the same victory as in their first game and lost 30-8.
Friday night was the annual football game accompanied by floats decorated to match the theme for this year's dance.
Clubs decorated floats with monkeys, bananas and anything they viewed as "jungle love."
Parkland faced Freedom in the football game, ending in a victory of Parkland 41-7.
To end the week, students attended the Saturday night dance. Wesley Works DJ'd and Dan's Camera City provided photo booths for students to take pictures with their friends.
At 9 p.m., Student Council Advisor Michelle Gannon announced the Homecoming king and queen.
After two weeks of voting, the students picked Montana Leaks as their queen and Paul Tajiri as their king.
