Bath to keep Colonial Regional Police

Bath Borough officials renewed police contract services with the Colonial Regional Police Department at a cost of $372,000 during council's meeting last month.

The decision came after a lengthy discussion at the August meeting with Colonial Regional Police Department Chief Roy Seiple.

Bath officials wanted to compare Colonial Regional to the Moore Township Police Department, which submitted a bid of $352,000 to protect the borough. The $20,000 difference prompted borough officials to invite the police departments to discuss the police services with the borough.

At last month's meeting, Seiple explained the police department's reports and services. No one from Moore attended either the August or September meeting of Bath Borough Council.

The new contract with Colonial Regional Police Department takes effect Jan. 1, 2015, after the current contract expires.

Seiple thanked the borough on behalf of the police department.
