Ruth M. Smoyer, 80, of New Tripoli, died Oct. 3, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She and her husband Reuben E. Smoyer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last Nov. 22.
Born March 6, 1932, in Heidelberg Township, she was the daughter of the late Fred N. and Florence (Bittner) Sell.
A member of the Lutheran congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township, she was a member of the Altar Guild, embroidering baptism cloths for many years.
For the last 24 years, she was known as the "Purse Lady," making purses to be sold at craft shows.
She was a member of the Ontelaunee Auto Club.
Ruth will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Susan R. Fatzinger and her husband, Allen, of New Tripoli, Scott L. and his wife, Brenda, of New Tripoli, Tania A. Rex and her husband, Michael, of Duke Center, McKean County; brother Stewart J. Sell of Walnutport; sister Shirley A. Smith and her husband, Paul, of Germansville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
She was predeceased by four brothers.
