Residents should have received information in the mail on the Coplay Lions Club's annual fundraiser.

A self-addressed envelope along with a one-page summary of the organization's mission, programs and projects, was sent recently to each borough resident.

"The Coplay Lions Club provides many services ... some of which you may not be aware," said Lions President Frank Luizer, in the summary.

While most associate the Lions with programs that provide eye glasses, eye examinations and hearing aides, the organization supports many local groups. Among them are the food bank, Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association, the Coplay Public Library and the Miller-Keystone Blood Center.

Community projects have included refurbishing structures at Sammy Balliet Stadium, maintenance and landscaping at the Coplay Saengerbund Veterans Memorial monument at Fifth and Hokendauqua streets and at the yule season caroling.

These projects represent only a small part of the club's community involvement.

The club said it continually welcomes new members. The meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:15 p.m. at the Coplay Saengerbund.
