LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Girls try to turn things around

The Whitehall volleyball team is still trying to find some firm footing as they negotiate the hardwoods of the Lehigh Valley Conference.

The Zephs had another up and down week, winning one match while losing two, dropping their record to 3-8.

It's been that type of year so far for the netters, and they'll have to make a strong push if they want to make the playoffs.

The win came against Dieruff High School, sweeping the Huskies in three games, 31-29, 25-16, 25-10.

In the victory over Dieruff, Lindsey Hutterer had 26 assists, while Korin Koehler had 26 dogs, making 26 the magical number for the night.

In the following game against Bethlehem Catholic High School, the Zephs lost in three games, 25-18, 25-16, 25-16.

The Zephs hung around for much of the game against the Golden Hawks, but the strong hitting of Lauren Hess and Julie Kollar, who had 26 kills between them, was too much for head coach Rob Gardner's young squad.

Tuesday's game saw them travel to Freedom High School where they took on the 2-6 Patriots.

The Zephs battled against their conference foes, but couldn't take a game, getting swept 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.
