Girls get first soccer win
The Catasauqua girls soccer team got their first win of the year at Palmerton last Tuesday night.
Senior Natalie Leggett was a blur on the field getting all of Catty's four goals in a 4-2 Lady Rough Riders win over the Blue Bombers.
Catty was in the Palmerton end of the field for most of the match.
Rough Rider coach Trajano Bastidas said, "It was a great win for us. Natalie Leggett was fantastic. Palmerton is not a bad team. I was impressed with their speed and physicality. It was a much needed win."
Palmerton scoring came from Megan Perk then another unassisted goal by Kendra Pekurny.
"We hope that our players get healthy and we can compete in the second half of the season. Ou main goal right now is to take it one game at a time," Bastidas said.

Catty and Pen Argyl engaged in a physical game of soccer at Thomas Field in Catasauqua last Wednesday.
Pen Argyl prevailed, and put one of Catty's best players, Natalie Leggett, out of the game as she was kicked and cut in the nose with 29:50 to play. It was one day after she scored four goals in a win over the Bombers.
Leggett just missed after a long run upfield by Alissa Frederick. Roughie Megan Hahn came up and got off a shot with 24:06 to play in first half. Pen Argyl broke a 1-1 tie with two goals in the second half and won 3-1 in a Colonial League North tilt and put the Lady Roughies out of playoff contention as they fell to 1-12 overall.
With 7:08 to go, Kylie Laub scored the first goal of the game on a header. Catty was perfectly ready to defend a foot kick so they got surprised. The Knights displayed great spacing on the field. Minutes after, Catty senior Olivia Falko had a great ball, splitting Lady Knight defenders. There were as many as four Pen Argyl players on Falko during the game.
Sam Miller shot with 33:21 and the game was getting chippy.
Bastidas complemented Natalia Candelaria for her good step and that came in handy as she passed to Olivia Falko who scored at 31:20 after a flip throw-in from Krys Roberts. That made the score 1-1.
Danielle was tested several times. Freshman Christine Cawley and Alissa Frederick made several deflections in the game.

Catty scored first in a non-league soccer match at Thomas Field last Saturday morning, but being first didn't mean much as Lehighton got two goals in the second half as the Indians scalped the Rough Riders 2-1.
Allison Andrews of the Indians netted both goals without any help in the second half.
Two Rough Riders seniors were involved in the scoring. Natalie Leggett got the ball to Olivia Falko for the first goal of the game.
On a beautiful fall morning the Lady Roughs got off more shots five to three. Falko and Leggett made the most runs to the goal and both were persistent near the box.
Catty Keeper Danielle Lilly registered ons save. Kayla Troutman made four stops for Lehighton.
