Boys fall to Notre Dame

Catty hosted Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg, but came up on the short side 1-0 at Thomas Field.

With ten minutes gone by in the contest Catty High coach Mike Baclawski wanted the team to be more active and play simple and recover.

Matt Rodger got off a shot with 27 minutes to play and Chris Sobrinski headed a ball down field to Ethan Hill and Martin Nalbadian shot as the Roughies tried to get the offense going.

Christian Bahara a freshman forward for the Spartans was in Catty's end a lot.

Lester Estrada, Rodger, Sobrinski, Nick Rossnagle all had nice touches, but they were turned away by Matt Duffy senior defender.

Tommy Gallagher fired one of the few direct shots on Catty goalie Gunnar Pattison (5 saves) with 20 minutes to play in the first half. Pattison turned back the Spartan frosh, though.

But, Kevin Gonzalez scored unassisted from the two-yard line with 17 minutes to go.

Justin Klein-DeHaven, a speedster was another scoring threat for Notre Dame but was turned aside. Baclawski wasn't happy that Catty was standing around. Pattison had to make diving saves and Jarrett Haldeman helped him out on defense.

Offensively, Rossnagle fed Ethan Hill but they couldn't find the back of the net as time ran out on the Brown and White in the first half.

Brian Cisneros made a nice tackle to start the second half. Joe Harakal headed the ball away in front of the pipes helping out his keeper.

At 32:44 Harakal shot from the two-yard line but couldn't convert. ND-ES coaches worried aloud about Lester Estrada being a scoring threat but they kept him off the scoresheet, too.

ND sophomore keeper Peter Carney (5 saves) came out on sophomore Sean Klobosits for another save and Harakal shot with 49 seconds left in a last attempt.
