Joan Ellen Baker, 67, a 35-year resident of San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Emmaus, died September 28, 2012, in St. Francis Pavilion, Daly City, Calif. She was the companion of Michael Monahan for 25 years. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of Ruth T. (Trump) Baker and the late Thomas E. Baker.

She was a graduate of Muhlenberg College and Boston University.

She was a musician, teaching piano and organ and served as a church organist.

She was a member of the American Guild of Organists.

She is survived by her mother; companion; brother, Thomas B. and his wife Ingrid of Emmaus; sister, Barbara and her husband Dennis Hoffman of Tucson, Ariz.; five nieces.
