In our meeting coverage of the East Penn School Board meeting in last week's issue of The Press, we mistakenly said one of the books in question was removed from a reading list at Eyer Middle School. In fact, according to Board President Charles Ballard, "there is not a general middle school reading list. There is a seventh and eighth grade honors reading list with some required books, but none of the titles being challenged were ever on that list. The challenge to 'Prep' in 2011 was for a book in the Eyer library. The challenge resulted in the book being removed from the library, but being kept on the ninth grade reading list. Warnings were added to the reading list brochure, and additional material was added to the descriptions in the reading lists themselves. The book was never in the LMMS library, so no action had to be taken there. The book 'Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test' was challenged in 2007. You can see all the brochures and reading lists on the District website." The Press apologizes for this error.
