Harold J. Billig
Harold J. Billig, 88, of Fogelsville, died Sept. 19, 2012, in his home.
He was the husband of Joanne L. (Mutchler) Billig and the late Rachel P. (Bennicoff) Billig.
He and his current wife celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last April 15.
Born May 30, 1924, in Lynn Township, he was the son of the late Granville A. and Florence (Kocher) Billig.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a seaman first class.
He was the founder, owner and operator of Billig Trucking Service Inc., Allentown, from 1969-91.
He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, ELCA, Allentown, Lehigh Lodge 326, F.&A.M., Trexlertown, the Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown, and the Rajah Shrine, Reading.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, he is survived by children, Florence L. Pail and her husband, John, of Catasauqua, Carol A. Peters, and her husband Larry, of Walnutport, Harold G. of Ebensburg, David D. and his wife, Sandy, of Claussville, Diane M. Cichonski and her husband, Charles, of Allentown, Donald W. and his wife, Julann, of Germansville, Judith M. McDonnell and her husband, Frank, of Newtown Square, Douglas E. and his wife, Jane, of Fogelsville, Sherri L. Confalone and her husband, Dan, of Allentown; brothers Russell and his wife, Marge, and George and his wife, Nancy, all of New Tripoli; 26 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and caregivers Karen, Lorraine, Lourdes, Kathie, Cheryl and Pam.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ann Burkhard, who died in 2008 and a brother, Arthur.
