If the closing of the Catasauqua swimming pool means the end of summer, then the borough's Fest-o'-Fall has to be on the calendar.
The scheduled date for the Catasauqua's annual fall kickoff is Saturday, Sept. 29, from noon to 5 p.m.
Each year, Fest-o'-Fall gets better and bigger.
Fun and games are planned for the Biery House on Race Street.
There, children will get to test their skills on games from the 1880s, including jacks and a wet-ball launch.
Families can let the chores around the house lapse for a weekend and spend some time learning to make potato candy and ice cream, then enjoy gobbling them up in front of a costumed scarecrow.
For those whose cooking skills are less than successful, treats can be enjoyed and taken home from the homemade bake sale. And everyone can grab lunch at the Biery Outdoor Kitchen while Tavern Tan provides music.
The Biery House Art Gallery and Museum will also be open.
From the Biery House, residents can walk over to the George Taylor House on Lehigh Street for a tour and to view the locally produced documentary on this signer of the Declaration of Independence.
A petting zoo, pony rides and moon bounce will be set up on the George Taylor Green.
Local Girl Scouts will have barbeque with peach cobbler for dessert ready for purchase and the band Modern Romance will provide entertainment.
A hayride will take families up to Blondies for a cupcake and a stroll among the 30 plus vendors that will stretch along Front Street's sidewalk to Hard Core Ink's Art Sale.
It all starts at noon on Saturday, Sept. 29.
