Last week, awards and scholarships were presented at The Great Allentown Fair for excellence and contributions in agriculture.

Fair President William J. "Bill" Albert was presented with the 2012 Outstanding Fair Ambassador Award.

The award was presented at the fair's opening ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

In addition to annually being elected as the president of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society since 2008, Albert has been the longtime fair board liaison to the blue ribbon competitive exhibit department.

This fair department is responsible for judging and showcasing more than 9,000 entries in agriculture, horticulture and domestic and fine arts each year.

Albert is a resident of North Catasauqua.
