The Whitehall-Coplay School Board discussed the benefits and possibility of receiving a cyber security insurance policy at its recent committee meeting.

Peter Dooley, a broker with Myers Benner Inc., presented a document that outlined the insurance policy. The policy would protect the school from the threat of potential hackers, cases of copyright or trademark infringement, invasion of privacy, libel, slander and plagiarism.

"The more we learn about this, the more I think it's recommended the board considers this coverage," said Business Manager Robert Strauss.

In other business, the committee also discussed the Choices Program. The program is voluntary and works to have students get back on track in school.

"This gives students a room where they can vent," said Richard Wietzke, a counselor with the program.

Students would participate in groups of seven to 10 for 10 to 12 weeks. The program is funded by the Lehigh County Department of Drug and Alcohol.
