School board approves sub

The Catasauqua School Board approved Kristin Popovice to serve as a Catasauqua High School long-term substitute during the board's Sept. 4 workshop meeting. She will teach earth science.

Popovice will replace Katrina Bullock who was approved at the board's Aug. 13 meeting. Since her appointment by the board, Bullock declined the CHS teaching position.

The earth science position became available after CHS teacher Daniel Wismer took a leave of absence.

The board also set Monday's board meeting agenda.

The board will vote on confirming 2012-13 teacher salaries, placement, educational level and professional credits pursuant to the district collective bargaining agreement, insurance rates, senior activity trips and planned courses of study.

The board will also vote on the 1356 Agreement. School board Solicitor David Knerr said the 1356 Agreement grants power to the local income tax collector to share tax-related information with the state.

Board members also will vote on the removal of substitute employees and substitute teachers, the reapproval of substitute support staff, extracurricular positions, student teachers and interns. They will also consider permitting a student who recently moved outside the Catasauqua Area School District to finish the senior year at CHS.

Also during Monday's meeting, the 2012 PSSA results will be presented to the board and public.

The meeting will be held 7 p.m. in the district administration office board room.
