George John, 91, of Macungie, died peacefully September 2, 2012. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Haddad) John. Born in New Salem, he was the son of the late Abraham and Elizabeth (Monsour) John.

He received a degree in metallurgical engineering from Lehigh University after which he worked at Textile Machine Works in Wyomissing, and then was vice president of Emmaus Foundry and Machine Works until he retired.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was an active member of the former Faith United Church of Christ and served on the consistory for many years.

He belonged to the Rotary Club of Emmaus and the Allentown Masons.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth A. and his wife Gillian; daughters, Georgia A. and her husband Curtis Baehler, and Audrey K. and her husband John Belford; grandchildren, Kathryn, Kristine, Stephen, Jordan and Kia; sister, Kathryn.

Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Weber Funeral Home, 1619 Hamilton St., Allentown. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
