Barbara Jean Kline Woomer died August 27, 2012, in Wilmington, N.C. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Woomer. She was the daughter of the late John A. and Carrie (Kratzer) Kline. She lived in the Lehigh Valley area for 53 years and in Lillian, Ala. for 20 years. She had been a resident of Wilmington, N.C. for the past six years.

She was a graduate of Emmaus High School and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, Bethlehem. She attended Tulane University, New Orleans, La. and Oklahoma University, Norman, Okla. Throughout her professional career she held numerous supervisory positions in healthcare, including director of staff development and director of nursing. She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Health where she had been a regional supervisor in eastern Pennsylvania for 14 years. She was an American Red Cross volunteer at Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida for 19 years and had served as the chairman of that program for three years.

She was a member of the Oakleaf Medical Officers Spouses Organization and served for four years as the treasurer of the Lillian Women's Club.

She was a former organist, soloist and choir director at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lillian, Ala. She had also been a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Pensacola, Fla. At the time of her death she was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Wilmington, N.C.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathie Sue and her husband David Saucier of Houston, Texas and Jodie Ann Yeakel of Sarasota, Fla. son, Jimmy Alan Yeakel of Hampstead, N.C.; granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Yeakel; grandson, Joshua Yeakel; six stepchildren and 15 step-grandchildren.
