Alverta M. Stauffer

Alverta M. Stauffer, 83, formerly of Walnutport and Ironton, died on Aug. 25, 2012, in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall Township, where she resided.

She was the wife of the late Norman D. Stauffer Sr.

Born April 20, 1929, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Catherine (Staub) Ziegler.

She was a nurse's aide at Allentown State Hospital for 28 years before retiring in 1990.

A member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, she was a former member of Schnecksville Senior Citizens.

Her survivors include children Norman D. Jr. of Walnutport, Daniel A. of Pottstown, Laura C. Loch of Kutztown, Patricia A. Harris of Pittsburgh, Rosemary Kostenbader of New Tripoli, Anita M. Johns of Kutztown; siblings Robert Ziegler of Wescosville, George Ziegler and Mary Seaman, both of Walnutport; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sisters Catherine Yost and Dorothy Nagle, and grandson Tad A. Stauffer.
