Lincoln PCN talk telecast

The Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Humanities Council (PHC), the State Library and the Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation to bring three Civil War lectures commemorating the 150th anniversary to its statewide audience.

The first of these lectures, "Lincoln's Love of Pennsylvania," is to air 6 p.m. Aug. 31, with an encore presentation, 3 p.m. Sept. 2.

The presentation, taped at the Centre County Library and Historical Museum community garden, Bellefonte, features Dr. Robert Sandow, Civil War expert and author of "Deserter Country," and veteran actor James Hayney.

Hayney's portrayal of Lincoln explores the president''s deep roots in the state and why he felt a personal connection to the Keystone state.

Coverage by PCN of the Civil War-oriented event is part of a partnership with the PHC. Pennsylvania Civil War 150 programming is made possible by a grant from the United States Institute of Museum and Library Services and presented in partnership with the Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation and Bureau of State Library of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
