Cooking noodles sets off alarm

A four-year-old boy cooking noodles in a microwave oven brought Coplay Police and the borough's fire department to 11 North Front St. Friday. Police said they responded to a report of a fire alarm at 9:01 p.m. and on arrival, they determined the fire alarm was coming from an apartment at A6. The fire department handled the situation, police reported.

Damage reported to vehicle

Christopher Goff of the 100 block of Chestnut Street reported to police on Aug. 16 that the passenger side mirror of his 2005 Saturn was damaged while the car had been parked on North Second Street. The damage was estimated at $100.

Alarm set off by cooked bacon

Bacon cooking on a stove last Thursday morning in an apartment brought borough firefighters and police to 28 South Front St. Police said the initial report was that the fire alarm had sounded. Police said on entering the apartment house there was smoke in the first-floor apartment. Firefighters ventilated the apartment. There was no fire or smoke damage reported.
