Jennifer Howells, a graduate of Northwestern LehighHigh School, graduated on May 23 with a Master of Science degree in engineering, geography and environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University's Whiting School of Engineering.
Howells is a civil engineer for ARCADIS/Malcolm Pirnie, an international company providing consultancy, design, engineering and management services in the fields of infrastructure, water, environment and buildings.
She is the daughter of Barbara and David Howells, formerly of Kempton, now residing in Indiana.

receive honors
Lauren A. Strella was recently promoted to president of the Sigma Gamma Epsilon honor society at Susquehanna University.
Strella, a rising senior majoring in earth and environmental science, is a 2009 graduate of Parkland High School, and the daughter of Julie and Christopher Strella.
Sigma Gamma Epsilon is a national Greek honor society founded to recognize men and women for their professional and scholarly accomplishments in the earth sciences.
Its objectives include professional advancement, scholastic excellence and productive relationships between and among members of university chapters.
To be eligible for membership, a student must have completed at least 10 semester hours in earth science courses with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and a minimum grade point average of 2.67 in all courses.
Mary H. Scalici, of Allentown, was recently inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society at Susquehanna.
Scalici, a rising sophomore majoring in early childhood education, is a 2011 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School.
She is the daughter of Tom and Amy Scalici.
The national freshman honor society encourages superior scholastic achievement among students during their first year in institutions of higher education, promotes intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and assists students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society.

Emma Nagle, a 2010 graduate of Parkland High School, was named to the spring 2012 dean's list at the University of Pittsburgh.
Nagle, a rising junior, is pursuing degrees in psychology and sociology.
She is the daughter of Chris and Gaile Nagle of Allentown.

receives degree
Lauren Elizabeth Golden of Allentown was among the largest graduating class in Clemson University history when she graduated May 11 with a Master of Science degree in historic preservation at the university's commencement ceremony in Clemson, South Carolina.
