Charotin Hose Co. Fire Calls
North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company responded to the following calls recently.
Appliance Fire
July 25, 2:53 p.m.
North Catasauqua firefighters responded to the 700 block of Willow Drive for an appliance fire in a dwelling. The caller had reported an odor of something burning and smoke coming from the washing machine.
Firefighters arrived to find the washing machine belt overheated due to a suspected overloaded machine. Smoke was ventilated with a fan and firefighters left the scene shortly.
Catasauqua and Northampton fire departments and Northampton Regional EMS were also dispatched as automatic mutual aid on the first alarm.
Dwelling fire
July 27, 5:53 p.m.
North Catasauqua personnel responded to the 200 block of Edward Lane, Catasauqua, on an automatic dispatch with the Catasauqua Fire Department for smoke from a dwelling. The caller had reported seeing smoke coming from the roof of the duplex.
Upon arriving, the Catasauqua fire chief was advised of a working fire by police on the scene and requested a second alarm, bringing Northampton Regional EMS, Whitehall and Han-Le-Co fire departments and Greenawalds Rescue for RIT and Nancy Run Rescue for cascade services.
Firefighters arrived on location and found a room and its contents fire in the second floor of a two-story duplex. A hose line was stretched upstairs and the fire was knocked down. Smoke was ventilated and the fire was overhauled to check for extension.
Motor vehicle accident
July 27, 10:27 p.m.
Charotin personnel responded to the 1100 block of Howertown Road with Northampton Regional EMS for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival, firefighters found a vehicle had struck a parked vehicle and the driver was injured. Care was provided to the injured driver and the vehicles were cleared from the scene.
Unconscious person
July 28, 7:50 a.m.
North Catasauqua firefighters were dispatched to the 1000 block of Sixth Street for a report of an unconscious person. Firefighters were held in station, however, when Northampton Regional EMS arrived on location and evaluated the patient.
