The Joseph Plowman Trio, with vocalist Marlene Gilley, presents a free concert, 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Aug. 30, PPL Plaza, Ninth and Hamilton streets, Allentown, as part of the "Summer in the City" series.

Music will be from the Great American Songbook, as well as contemporary songwriters.

Plowman, a jazz bassist, Emmaus native and Emmaus High School graduate, has returned from Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he toured with an international quartet from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Plowman, a senior at Temple University, studies acoustic bass and is house bass player for the World Cafe Live "Jazz Jam."

Pianist is Tim Brey, who received a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Piano Performance from Temple University. Drummer is Alex Maio, a Temple University graduate.

"Summer in the City" is held noontime Thursdays through Sept. 27. Rain location is in Made in Brazil restaurant, 904 Hamilton St, Allentown.
