Charotin Hose Co. Fire Calls
North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company responded to the following calls recently.
Fire alarm
July 18, 10:38 a.m.
Charotin firefighters responded to a residential fire alarm in the 1000 block of Howertown Road. The Catasauqua Fire Department was also dispatched as automatic mutual aid. A caller had reported smoke alarms sounding for a length of time. Upon arrival, personnel found unattended cooking by the resident. The smoke was ventilated.
Respiratory distress
July 20, 5:43 p.m.
North Catasauqua firefighters responded along with Northampton Regional EMS for a man with respiratory distress and possible cardiac arrest in the 1000 block of Sixth Street. EMS released NCFD shortly after arrival.
Structure fire report
July 22, 3:07 a.m.
Charotin firefighters were dispatched, along with personnel from Northampton and East Allen fire departments and Northampton Regional EMS, for a report of a structure fire at the Fourth Street Park in Northampton. The park is located in the 400 block of Fourth Street. The caller had reported that the pavilion was on fire.
Upon arrival, a Northampton assistant fire chief reported a small trash can was on fire near the pavilion. He canceled all mutual aid and Northampton firefighters handled the fire without assistance. The pavilion was not on fire.
Alarm malfunction
July 23, 10:02 p.m.
North Catasauqua firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Third Street for a residental fire alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters found no cause for the alarm and suspected a system malfunction. A keyholder for the property arrived and was able to restore the alarm system. The keyholder reported problems with the system since thunderstorms had occurred a few days ago and would contact the alarm company for service.
