Week eight of camp started off on Monday like most days during the summer – bright sunshine, lots of games and many more smiles.

The morning began with a competitive round of knock out at the basketball courts followed with more excitement indoors with a dodge ball tournament. The day also included free time, crafts and water games. The children were thankful for the break from the heat when it was time to go to the pool. Many of the campers put an end to the day with a game of water polo.

To fulfill the week's sleepover theme, both Camp Cementon and Camp Jefferson joined together on Tuesday at the Jefferson Park for a day of fun. The weather was beautiful and set the tone for the rest of the day.

Both camps engaged in relay races and a huge game of dodge ball at the basketball courts. Following the game, many of the children unrolled their sleeping bags and got ready to enjoy a movie. The campers devoured cups of popcorn while watching "The Little Rascals."

Tuesday ended with a game of splash out and an afternoon at the Jefferson pool.

As Wednesday arrived, so did the excitement for the field trip to the Roxy. Both Camp Cementon and Camp Jefferson joined together to watch "Brave" while eating a variety of candy. The campers seemed to really enjoy the movie and their time at the theater. Following the movie, the campers ate lunch then headed off to the pool for the afternoon.

The week of enjoyment seemed to continually improve as the days progressed. Thursday began with free time and a rousing game of four square as the campers awaited the arrival of the animals from the Wildlands Conservancy.

The children were very excited to learn about how each of the animals survives in the wild. Some of the animals included frogs, turtles, a great horned owl, a bunny and many other critters.

The campers gave a farewell to the instructors from the Wildlands and headed to the pool for the afternoon. However, the weather had something else in mind. As lightning and thunder began to approach, the campers retreated to the building for games and crafts to end the day. Many children played four square and made duct tape picture frames.

As the end of the week approached, so did the rain. However, the wet weather did not keep Camp Whitehall from having a wonderful day.

Three four-square courts were set up in the building along with assortments of crafts. As the rain started to slow down, the campers began to take full advantage. The children played dodge ball, kickball and basketball.

When the rain returned, Camp Whitehall embraced the movie theme for the week once more by watching "The Sandlot."

The campers stayed busy while anticipating the wonderful lunch being prepared for them. The lunch included catered fried chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese and assorted chips.

The day ended with more games and awards. Each camper received a plate award identifying a unique quality the child exhibited during the summer. Some of the campers congregated and made plate awards for the counselors as well!

The campers of the week were Bryan and Madison. The camper of the summer for boys was awarded to Stefano and Reegan received the award for the girls.
