Ruthann Schaeffer, 73, of Old Zions-ville, died peacefully, surrounded by her family August 7, 2012, in the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township. She was the wife of Carl F. Schaeffer. The couple celebrated 54 years of marriage March 29. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Viola (Shankweiler) David.

She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville, and was a graduate of Emmaus High School, Class of 1956, where she was in the color guard.

She was employed in the accounting office at Daytimers Inc. for 25 years until her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, ceramics, gardening, spending time at the beach and cheering for her grandhchildren at their sporting events.

She is survived by her husband; children, Lynn D. of Macungie, Dr. Lori A. and her husband Dr. Terry Martin of South Orange, N.J., and David C. and his wife Justina of Macungie; sister, Betty Lou and her husband Richard Schraden; grandchildren, Samantha, Taylor, Francesca, Rachel, Natalie, Abbigail and Erin; nieces and nephews.
