Austin Tyler Zalik, 21, of Upper Macungie Township, died Aug. 3, 2012.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of Matthew A. and Jacqueline L. (Hoodmaker) Zalik.

A 2009 graduate of Parkland High School, he was a member of the Parkettes Men's Gymnastics Team.

He was a student and served as a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.

He would have been part of the 2013 graduating class of the U.S. Naval Academy and was selected to be the USNA men's gymnastics team captain.

He was an Academic All-American Award recipient for 2006 through 2009.

He was a member of Calvary Moravian Church, Allentown.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Chandler Zalik; paternal grandmother, Helen Zalik; maternal grandmother, JoAnne Hoodmaker; aunt and uncle, Audrey and George Wilkinson; and cousins, Brianna, Travis and Elise.
