Betty Thomas Francis Seidel, 93, of Country Meadows, Upper Macungie Township, formerly of Kutztown, died Feb. 11, 2018, under the care of Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice.

Born in Hamburg, Berks County, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Mildred V. (Schafer) Thomas.

She was the wife of Donald S. Francis, who died in May 2000, for 54 years, and Dr. Donald C. Seidel, who died in October 2017, for 15 years.

A 1942 graduate of Hamburg High School, she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where she served on church council and taught Sunday School for 37 years.

Her survivors include daughters Dr. Cynthia Bechtel and husband, Richard, of Southborough, Mass., Lorraine Landis and husband, William, of Seipstown, Martha Nolan and husband, Gregory, of Allentown; grandchildren Dr. Brett Bechtel of Paducah, Ky., Shane Bechtel of Scarborough, Maine, Erin (Landis) Smith of Cockeysville, Md., Carolyn (Landis) Kunicki of Denver, Colo., Ryan Nolan of Henderson, Nev., and Sean and Tyler Nolan, both of Allentown; 10 great-grandchildren; and many loving nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by five siblings Ruth Thomas Matz, Mildred Thomas Mattson, Dorothy Thomas Fryer, the Rev. William Thomas and Anna Thomas Kaag, and grandson William Francis Landis.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
