Edgar Henry Iobst Jr.

Edgar Henry Iobst Jr., 86, of Allentown, died July 14, 2013, in Phoebe Home. He was the husband of Jean H. (Miller) Iobst. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Edgar H. Iobst and Esther (Weida) Iobst.

He proudly served his country during World War II in the Navy.

He attended Lehigh University in the engineering college, graduating with a degree in chemistry. He worked as the plant chemist for General Electric and Black and Decker for 33 years, retiring in 1986.

He was an active member of Chestnut Hill UCC, serving on the church council and various committees.

A life member of Lower Milford Fire Co., he served 30 years as the ambulance captain.

He was a member of Emmaus Historical Society, Shelter House Society, Lower Lehigh AARP, Emmaus VFW and the American Legion where he was a past commander of Charles Henry Schaeffer Post.

He is survived by his wife; son, Thomas H. of Wynnewood; daughter, Ellen D. and her husband Stephen Dunbar, of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Esther Wiegand of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Bryn Dunbar and Owen Dunbar. He was predeceased by a daughter, Janet L. Stortz; brothers, Joseph and Samuel; sisters, Jane Ann Ramage, Hannah, and Caroline Fry.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. July 20 in Chestnut Hill UCC, 6870 Chestnut Hill Rd., Coopersburg, 18036. Friends may call 9 to 10 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
