Commissioners OK appointments, reappointments

Lehigh County commissioners appointed and reappointed five individuals to serve on boards and authorities during their Jan. 25 meeting.

Lynne Hanna was appointed to Aging and Adult Services and Dilia Coppedge was appointed to serve on the Lehigh County Children and Youth Advisory Board.

Additionally, Dean Browning and John Hayes were reappointed to serve on the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority and Sally Schoffstall received a reappointment to the Aging and Adult Services Board.

The appointments of Hanna and Coppedge and the reappointment of Hayes were approved unanimously.

Commissioner Michael Schware abstained from voting on the reappointment of Browning and Hayes citing his service on the airport authority.

Commissioner Geoff Brace said Coppedge expressed interest in the appointment based on her professional experiences.

Hanna, Brace told the commissioners, comes highly recommended, and recently experienced issues related to elder care.

Brace said Schoffstall, who is an attorney, has the relevant experience.

“She is not only passionate about issues of elder law but she is probably among the most authoritative on the subject,” he said.

Hayes, who has experience in the financial area, has skill sets that will benefit the airport authority, Brace said.
