NOVA seeks board member

NOVA Director of Administration Kristie Wilk attended the Aug. 16 Heidelberg Township supervisors meeting.

She reported NOVA is seeking volunteers to apply for two openings on its board of directors.

Wilk said the board meets once a month and if an individual serves on a special committee, that group also meets once a month.

NOVA offers the opportunity for car safety seat checks. Call ahead to schedule an appointment. NOVA personnel will examine the car seat to make sure it is installed properly.

NOVA also offers classes for CPR certification and training for Girl Scouts.

For more information, call the NOVA office at 610-262-1075.

There will be a round-table discussion 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 28 for NOVA to discuss the current goals and concerns of the organization and provide an update on news and trends in the EMS industry. Supervisors, and state representatives are invited to attend.

NOVA responded to 23 calls in July with 96 percent covered. That brings the total to 146 for the year.

Wilk said NOVA wants to remain at 90 percent or above being covered. Response time was 4 minutes to 23 minutes.

In other matters, Goodwill Fire Company, Germansville, has been giving financial reports quarterly. It spent 59.72 fire hours in July.

The township has received a draft of the four-township agreement for giving emergency volunteers a reimbursement on their taxes. There were few changes from last month’s discussion.

Solicitor Charles Waters said the reimbursement can only be for taxes on the parcel with the residence.

A visit to the assessment office may be need to verify if a residence and business are divided.

Supervisor Steve Bachman said NOVA volunteer hours to be eligible must be counted the same as for the fire department.
