Allentown Symphony presents world premiere

Celebrating the “Symphonic Organ Festival” at the conclusion of the March 11 Allentown Symphony Orchestra “Classical Series” concert program at Miller Symphony Hall are, from left, Sheila Evans, Allentown Symphony Association Executive Director; Eric Ewazen, composer, “Concertino for Organ and Orchestra”; Diane Wittry, Allentown Symphony Orchestra Music Director-Conductor; Hector Olivera, organist for the program, and Barry Holben, Vice President, Sales, Allen Organ Company, which commissioned the Allentown concerts’ world premiere of the Ewazen “Concertino” and provided the 58-stop, three-manual Bravura Organ (seen in the photo) built by Allen Organ in Macungie, Lehigh County. The program was also presented March 12 at the hall. The organ festival concluded the symphony-sponsored March 5-10 “Organ Extravaganza” held in the Lehigh Valley.
