Salisbury Township fire commissioner appointed

A new fire commissioner has been appointed in Salisbury Township.

He’s believed to be the first fire commissioner in Salisbury.

That’s because the title of fire commissioner is new in the township.

In his report to commissioners at the Feb. 26 township commissioners’ meeting, Salisbury Township Lt. Christopher Casey, filling in for Salisbury Township Chief of Police Donald Sabo, announced John C. Semonich is the new Salisbury Township Fire Commissioner, succeeding Dustin Grow, who was appointed assistant chief of training, Allentown Fire Department.

The Salisbury role was previously held by Grow under the title director of fire services. However, to align with Lehigh County, the title has been changed to fire commissioner, a spokesman for Salisbury Township stated in an email to a reporter for The Press.

After the Feb. 26 township meeting, Semonich told a reporter for The Press he is battalion chief for Radnor Fire Company, Delaware County.

Firefighter-paramedic Semonich was appointed battalion chief of C Platoon Nov. 2, 2025, according to an Instagram post by the Radnor Professional Firefighters.

“Throughout his career, and time at Radnor, Chief Semonich has demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and dedication to the mission of protecting our community. His experience as both a firefighter and paramedic has made him an invaluable member of the department,” the Instagram post stated.

According to the Instagram post, Semonich is shop steward for Radnor Professional Firefighters International Association of Fire Fighters Local 4883.

Semonich, a Parkland High School graduate, lives with his wife and two children in Lower Macungie Township.
