Calvin E. Neikam Jr.

Calvin E. Neikam, Jr., of Allentown, July 14, 2013, died surrounded by his loving family in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Rose Marie (Ziara) Neikam would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September.

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Emma (Danker) and Calvin E. Neikam Sr.

A graduate of Allentown High School, Class of 1950, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was a foreman with the Lehigh County Authority for many years before retiring in 1995.

A member of Faith Church, Trexlertown, he was involved with the church's Seniors in Action.

He was a cofounder and member of the Gold Medal Pinochle Club for more than 50 years.

He played minor league baseball in the North Atlantic Baseball League and was a former vice president of the West End Youth Center, where he coached knee-hi and American Legion baseball.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He was a dedicated Christian and an exemplary role model to all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Michele M. Sabo and her husband, Lewis T., of Allentown, their children, Andrew and his wife, Heather, Timothy, Joseph; daughter JoAnn Hill and her husband, Alan R., of Germansville, and their children Allison and her husband Chad Davis, Jessica, Natalie; son Steven M. and his wife,, Diane M. of Allentown, and their children Steven Jr., Calli, Jonathan; son Barry L. and his wife, Joann M., of Allentown, and their children Alexandra, Bradley; great-grandchildren Calvin, Abigail, Aston, Casey; and sisters Maryland Kucharczuk, Geraldine Peifley, Joan Dreisbach, all of Allentown.

He was predeceased by his half-sister, Doris Veranda.
